The other day I was reading a post from Proverbs31 that really resonated with me. The lady was sharing a story of when her children were collecting shells on the beach and her daughter kept picking out ones with holes. When they mentioned to her that she might want to choose the ones without holes she replied she had a plan for them – “I just need to string some thread through those holes, and then I’ll be able to make something beautiful!” The holes had a purpose!
I’m filled with holes – that’s been quite apparent to me lately. I often struggle with a bad attitude, I feel “imperfect” because of my OCD, I’m constantly making silly mistakes. Holes, holes, holes. But God works best in those holes. He has a purpose for them – He can shine his goodness through them and give me the strength to overcome.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
I love this word picture that I came across on my Holy Bible app –
Amen! This has become my mantra – something I’ve been thinking about over and over again and holding close to my heart. I’m so thankful He can work in my weakest places – because I’m certainly not handling everything well on my own. But it’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay to admit my weakness – my holes – and allow Him to fill me up. That’s when great things can happen and testimonies are established.
